Reneging on Fellowship
Hello, I am a current PGY-4 Psychiatry resident who has accepted a position for a 1 year fellowship that is not in Child or Forensics starting in the summer of this year. I am in my very early 30s and have over 300k in loans. I now realize the time value of money and I am wondering if it was a bad decision on my part to follow through with this fellowship now that I am hearing of the offers my coresidents are getting out in the community for attending positions. I am not particularly... Reneging on Fellowship (Source: Student Doctor Network)

M.A. or M.S. for PsyD?
I'm a senior in college, I'm getting my bachelor's in psychology with a minor in cognitive science. I want to eventually be a forensic psychologist, and I want to work in the field, so I was looking in to getting a PsyD. However my GPA is only 2.98, and my professors have been letting me know that my chances of getting into a clinical psychology program are slim. However one of my professors said that instead of immediately going for a PsyD, I could get my Master's first, and build up my GPA... M.A. or M.S. for PsyD? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Forensic programs
Hey everyone. Current Pgy4 applying (late?) to forensics. I'm looking at the list of places on the aapl website and reading their blurbs...it's hard to tell what's what and who I should really be focusing on. As for my selection criteria, I'm avoiding places that are hot and humid. My career goals are to be a well rounded psychiatrist and feel comfortable with most things that might walk through my door as someone who does private forensics work a day or so a week-my other interests are... I've become aware that many US students/doctors don't know of the different type of pathologists besides clinical/anat pathologists and forensic path
The following thread made me realise this Metabolic medicine? I read that chemical pathologists and IM can specialize in metabolic medicine. I just stumbled accross this yesterday and found it quite intriguing My questions are: What do you guys treat and do, typical work and patient contact? All I hear its a relatively newer subspecialty and that they... forums.studentdoctor.net Other specialties of Pathology are: Chemical pathology which i kind of explained in the link above. - can specialise in metabolic medicine Haematol...

AP/CP vs AP only certification for Forensic Path
For the forensic pathologists and residents in training out there, what are your thoughts on certifying in AP/CP vs AP only? Especially in the setting of a combined AP/CP program, e.g. having enough CP rotations to sit for CP boards but choosing not to. The gist (lol) from a prior thread seems to be that CP training... Forensic Pathology as a future career [Prospects of a US IMG]
Hello everyone! I am a US international medical student hoping to pursue a career in forensic pathology. I've done extensive research and clinical electives at the forensic department in foreign medical institutions but have yet to do any in the states. After going through all of my hospital rotations, I've become even more convinced that this is the specialty for me (despite the lack of "traditional" direct patient care). Now, I have 2 questions in mind: 1. Is this a good career choice in... Forensic Pathology as a future career [Prospects of a US IMG] (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to think about validity scale information...
A recent thread on a forensic listserv has got me pontificating all night/day on this question: Do we have any data to suggest that validity scale data from one test reliably predicts self-presentation in other situations, such as interviews? If, say, we administered two or more tests with strong validity scale data, and response style is consistent across each of those tests (all faking good, for example), how does/should those data affect our view of litigant/defendant/person being... MS Forensic Medicine questions
Hello All! I am considering doing the Masters in Forensic Medicine, I would love if anyone that has done the program or is in the process of doing the program, answer the questions below if possible. I am looking for an online masters program closely related to Forensic Pathology. I found that there are only 3 schools that offer this program: UF, PCOM and Maryland 1) Which schools did you complete the program with or which are you currently attending? Which area of pathology is most immune from AI?
With a lot of talk about AI replacing radiologists and pathologists, it has me wondering which field is most protected from image analysis or other forms of AI. I think a lot of CP work would be difficult to replace with AI. Being a lab manager will be a relatively secure gig if you can find a job. Forensics is obviously safe from these developments as well. My AI proof fields of pathology 1. Forensics 2. Blood banking and transfusion med 3. Molecular/lab manager 4. At the bench grossing... Which area of pathology is most immune from AI?
