Comparison of Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in the Treatment of Bile Duct Stones and Analysis of Risk Factors for Postoperative Acute Pancreatitis
CONCLUSION: Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration is our first choice for patients with bile duct stones who have no history of abdominal surgery, cardiac or pulmonary valve insufficiency, bile duct stenosis, and poor duodenal papilla function, as it can reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications and shorten rehabilitation. Further investigation of the factors that independently caused postoperative acute pancreatitis after stone removal is warranted.PMID:37347694 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Risk of Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Patients with End-Stage Renal Disease: The Link between Gut, Heart, and Kidneys
Gastroenterol Res Pract. 2023 May 8;2023:9986157. doi: 10.1155/2023/9986157. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTPatients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have a five times higher risk of gastrointestinal bleed (GIB) and mortality than the general population. Aortic stenosis (AS) has been associated with GIB from intestinal angiodysplasia. In this retrospective analysis, we obtained data from the 2012 and 2019 National Inpatient Sample. The primary outcome of interest was all-cause in-hospital mortality and risk factors of mortality in patients with ESRD with GIB with aortic valve disorders especially AS. We identified all patient...
