Now for the desserts! Here are recipes for Pumpkin Pie, Apple Cranberry Crumble, and Pumpkin Spice Muffins. Remember: By taking out wheat and other grains, not resorting to gluten-free junk carbohydrate replacements, not adding sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, limiting net carbohydrate content and not using other problem ingredients, we now have healthy desserts that do not pack on the pounds, screw with blood sugar, mess with satiety signals, or exert inflammatory effects. Have your Apple Cranberry Crumble or Pumpkin Spice Muffin and suffer not a moment of guilt! And I think they’re pretty darned tasty, too. Hap...

The World Is Entering a Devastating Chocolate Crisis: The Government Must Act to Save Us
Doug Bandow Attention in Washington remains focused on the government shutdown.  But a far more important issue confronts America: rising chocolate prices. When will the government address this terrifying global crisis? Cocoa trees have been cultivated for thousands of years. The early Mesoamericans, including the Aztecs and Mayans, turned the beans into cocoa solids, liquid, and butter. These peoples offered cocoa beans as gifts for the gods and using cocoa drinks in sacred ceremonies. The Europeans became acquainted with chocolate after the Spanish conquistadors came and conquered. The Europeans sent cocoa beans an...

Work on Stereognosis with food.
The other day I was eating a cup filled with blueberries, cherries, and tiny grapes, while driving. I would reach into cup holder with right hand and keeping eyes on road, so it was all via stereognosis, ie eyeballs on my fingers, that I would know which gruit it was. I realized it was a great way to work with kids on stereognosis in an efficient and motivating and fun way. For example you could fill a cup with items like small twizzler bites and cocoa puffs and have the kid figure out which one he was grabbing if he couldn't see. You could incorporate a lot of descriptive words and ask questions about whether it feels lon...
