Best caffeine drink to take during a test?
Don't know if this is the appropriate forum to post, mods, please feel free to move if needed. So I have to take my board exam next week which is 8 hours. During residency, I've come to get dependent on energy drinks and have the luxury of using the restroom whenever I want. I am unable to tolerate coffee due to severe GI distress and I remember when I took step 2, I had to go use the restroom a lot. I was wondering if there is an alternative that i can use on the day of the test? I imagine... Best caffeine drink to take during a test? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

what energy/nutrient drink do you guys recommend to get thru a long shift?
I work a lot of long, full day shifts, usually 12 or 13 hours with no lunch break. Any body got recommendation on a good nutrient drink to get thru the day? Looking for something to provide a little bit of caffeine, but mainly nutrients to sustain my body. I have tried Ensure, wondering if there's anything better out there. Out-service vs. in-service Navy OMFS
I’m wondering if any current Navy affiliates can shed some light on the scope of Navy OMFS residencies? I have heard they tend to focus on bread and butter types of cases (3rds and implants) with minimal exposure to a true full scope. Realistically, I can see myself getting cozy with teeth and titanium, but I feel like having exposure to more advanced procedures would be nice too. Are the out-service programs the go-to in that regard? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RustedFox Rants: "BC Powder"
Okay, I can be completely wrong here - and maybe this is a regional thing... ... but what the hell is it that makes people think that they should take "BC Powder" for any ailment under the sun? Full disclosure: I had never heard of "BC Powder" before I moved down here to Florida. I actually had to look up what the hell it was (aspirin/caffeine). But the folks down here in the sunshine state act like its a panacea. Ailments that muggles regularly report using "BC Powder" for to me include... 513 to 524 aamc fl1
So in December I took AAMC FL1 for the first time, got a 513 (129-127-128-129), in preparation for an MCAT in Jan. Ended up not sleeping the night before due to caffeine, probably some anxiety. Ended up voiding, testing April 5th. I also took FL2-3 and got 514-515, again, in December. Retook last weekend and got a 524 (131-130-131-132). Obviously this is inflated, as I did review my FLs extensively. I remembered a few questions verbatim, and I'm sure I had some subliminal help on others... 513 TO 524 AAMC FL1 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Caffeine Tolerant vs. Caffeine Free Med Student
I drank coffee in undergrad and felt great, but after a couple months, the same dose no longer did anything and made me tired. Is it better to not consume caffeine, or consume caffeine and deal with the increased dose needed and possible withdrawal if caffeine is not consumed? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Coffee - Time to Start?
Throughout my entire history as a student (HS, undergrad, postbac, masters) I have never relied on caffeine of any kind. No coffee, no tea, no energy drinks, no soda, etc. I'd like to think I've done just fine without it. Now that I'm in med school (M1) I often find myself drowsy, nodding off, daydreaming in class, unable to sit and focus. Most people I talk to say it's time to start drinking coffee, others say that if I've gone this long without it, no need to start now. I see some of my... Coffee - Time to Start? Caffeine
So I've been lethargic and brain fogged all day for no apparent reason. I just realized that I haven't had coffee in the last 2 days. I just looked it up and caffeine withdrawal can last up to 2 months (for heavy users). Should I just cut my loses and grab some coffee? Also, how many cups do med students tend to drink in a day? Caffeine Tolerance
Medical school is starting in August. I know there will be late nights of studying, some of which maybe very late. I'm planning on cutting back all caffeine this week, and not drinking any until I began medical school. My hope is that I can return to the days when a cup of coffee had amazing effects on my late study hours! My question is how long would it take to completly destroy my tolerance that I have built up since undergrad? If it functions anything like my tolerance for alcohol, I... Has anyone made it through premed without caffeine?
Might seem like a random question out of curiosity, but I am seriously thinking about it because I don't drink coffee and sometimes get too tired to get things done. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
