Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma with localized relapse in bone marrow of lower leg detected using PET-CT
We present two patients with ENKTL, wherein positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) with total-body coverage after induction therapy, detected newly relapsed regions in the bone marrow of the lower leg prior to progression. Case 1: A 47-year-old woman with nasal obstruction, showing 18F-fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the nasal cavity (Lugano stage IE). After induction therapy (RT-2/3 DeVIC), PET-CT revealed abnormal uptake only in the right fibula. Case 2: A 68-year-old man with a skin nodule/ulcer and an enlarged right inguinal lymph node was diagnosed with advanced ENKTL. A PET-CT scan revealed abn...

Recurrence of solitary plasmacytoma in the liver 10 years after the onset of multiple bone lesions
J Clin Exp Hematop. 2024;64(1):65-70. doi: 10.3960/jslrt.23056.ABSTRACTA 79-year-old man presented with a history of solitary plasmacytoma in the bone 10 years ago. Chemoradiotherapy was effective, and remission was maintained with intermittent treatment at relapse of the bone lesions. One year after the last treatment, a follow-up computed tomography (CT) scan revealed multiple liver masses, and a liver biopsy revealed plasmacytoma. There was no clonal plasma cell infiltration in the bone marrow, and the final diagnosis was solitary plasmacytomas of the liver. Although liver involvement is known in relapsed refractory mul...

Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma coexisting with peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified
We report the case of a 52-year-old male who presented to our hospital with cervical lymphadenopathy. Lymph node biopsy revealed small atypical lymphoid cells positive for CD3 and CD5 and negative for CD56 and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-encoded small RNA (EBER) by in situ hybridization. CD4-positive cells and CD8-positive cells were mixed in almost equal numbers. He was diagnosed with peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS). The patient received one cycle of chemotherapy, resulting in severe sepsis. While undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit with an antimicrobial agent and prednisone, asciti...

Positive response of a hemodialysis patient with pure red cell aplasia on recombinant human erythropoietin therapy to cyclosporine and Roxadustat
AbstractRecombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) is commonly used to treat anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). EPO-induced Pure Red Cell Aplasia (PRCA) is a rare condition of profound anemia with EPO treatment. Upon finding the development of EPO-induced PRCA, the treatment requires immediate withdrawal of EPO therapy and initiate new treatments with immunosuppression or renal transplantation. Anti-EPO antibody assay is not always positive in EPO-induced PRCA. Here, we report a case on the sudden development of PRCA in a hemodialysis patient receiving EPO and how we treated the condition successfully with...

Gamma-delta T-cell acute lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia: a report of a rare entity
AbstractGamma delta ( γδ) T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (T-ALL) is a rare, aggressive subtype of T-lymphoid leukemia that accounts for only 9–12% of all T-ALL cases. Herein, we report the case of an 8-year-old boy who presented with facial swelling, shortness of breath, and progressive cervical and axi llary lymphadenopathy. Pathological examination, flow cytometry (Navios, Beckman Coulter ClearLLab 10C 10-color T-cell panel [containing FITC-labeled TCR γδ antibody]), chromosomal analysis, interphase FISH, and targeted DNA-based NGS (34-gene Illumina TruSeq Myeloid Panel) were performed. Flow cy tometr...
