American board certified working in Canada? requirements?
Hi everyone. I have a good friends who is a Canadian citizen. He did his residency in the US. He tells me that in Canada, anesthesiology residency is 5 years so to have equivalent training you would need to do a fellowship to be licensed and work in Canada as an anesthesiologist. It seems like other royal colleges; however, the American board certification is acceptable and there is reciprocity (Australia, etc). Anyone have any experience with this? Just wondering for a long term... American board certified working in Canada? requirements? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

T20 Schools Deferment Policy
I’m kind of in a dilemma. I’m a student athlete, so I can’t really take a gap year in the middle of my four years of college. However at the same time I feel really called to take a year off and do a one-year global health focused Christian missions program in Australia through a large missions ministry called YWAM. Therefore, my only choice is to go after I graduate. I would be going from early July 2022 to late June 2023. However, I also don’t want to take more than 1 year off. So this... Realistic Hopes of gaining a training position in internal medicine Australia as UK trained graduate?
Hi guys first time poster here! Need some help as I'm keen to make some big life changes but unclear of how realistic my hopes are. I'm Canadian by citizenship but I've completed medical school in the UK and have just started FY2 here. Personally I feel my time in the UK has come to end as I want a new adventure and better working conditions. Australia! I understand being apart of the commonwealth grants me the one year in the competent authority pathway. After this how realistic is it... SGU vs University of Queensland for MD Program
Hello everyone, I would like to ask for some advice on what I should do. I am a Canadian student that has been unsuccessful in applying to medical schools in Canada for the last couple of years due to a low MCAT score. While I wish to remain in Canada, I have also started looking into medical schools in other countries. What are your thoughts between attending medical school at the University of Queensland in Australia vs St. George University in the Caribbeans in terms of securing... Is it worth pursuing a PsyD? Should I just do a Masters program?
Hi guys Some background info about me: I am 26, have my undergrad degree in psychology from UC Davis after getting a 3.36 cumulative gpa (not great, as I was going through some personal stuff at the start of school). I also have some research experience in university at a social cognition lab. I am originally from California, but moved to Melbourne, Australia to get some world experience. In Australia I have worked in psych settings for about 1-2 years total. I now am at a stage where I... Is it worth pursuing a PsyD? Should I just do a Masters program? Locums jobs in Australia/New Zealand
Anyone ever receive locums inquiries about jobs down under? Curious what they pay. Thinking of trying to do it for a couple of years but unsure if my debt burden will allow for it. Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Specializing in Psychiatry in Australia
Hello! I have some questions regarding specializing in Psychiatry in Australia. (I am from abroad so not familiar with the system there) . Specifically: 1) How many internship/RMO years do most people complete before applying to psych residencies? 2) How hard is it to get into a psychiatry residency for the average Australian med school graduate? What % of applicants to psych residencies are accepted on average? 3) What are the main factors that psych residencies look at to determine... Excellent new exam resource (SAQs)
Ketamine Nightmares An Australian Anaesthetic Trainee has created a website with some prior exam questions/answers available to the general training community. Probably more useful for non-US trainees as I think US training isn't very heavy on Essay/Short Answer Question (SAQ) assessments. It's a good website with reasonable coverage of the Primary curriculum (physiology, pharmacology and equipment). Adequate depth to score a solid pass (3/5) for most... American AEGD & Canadian GPR Programs (2021)
Hello Everyone, I am currently an Australian dental student looking to pursue an American AEGD or Canadian GPR program in 2021, any information on program exposure (beyond what is available online) would be greatly appreciated. To clarify, I am not looking for licensure within the United States, mainly seeking more clinical experience & evidence-based didactic knowledge in lieu of this Covid-19 situation. Thank you and stay safe! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Studying medicine in Australia - Preparing for US Residency
Hey everyone, I am considering attending a MD program in Australia (I'm from the US). I'm aware of all the challenges getting residency in US or internship in Australia. I have a few questions: 1) When do US MD students in Australia study & take the USMLE Step 1? ( non-Ochsner students), given that the end of year 2 is in December, which is half way through the medical school year in the US. Same question for the Step 2 exams. 2) When do international students arranging own elective... Studying medicine in Australia - Preparing for US Residency (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Did the internship situation get better than in the past for the international graduates of Australian med school?
I asked one of the agency coordinators if the internship situation in Australia became better than in the past for international/Canadian graduates of Australian med school. I was told that any Canadian grad of Australian med school who has wanted an internship in Australia has gotten one, even though it may not be offered in favourable location like downtown Sydney. I’m aware that she can’t speak without bias since she works for the agency but her response seemed very different from what... Canadians that went to La trobe university or Adelaide in Australia?
Hello, I was wondering if there were any Canadians that went to or are currently going to La trobe university or Adelaide for the dental programs to become a dentist? I know both of these programs are accredited under the ADC (Australian dental council) but has anyone actually been able to practice in Canada without completing any additional testing? Does the CDA recognize La trobe and Adelaide? Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland doctors special pathway to practice in the US
This post is for doctors trained in the England, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland interested in relocating/practicing in the US. I had to move from Britain to the US for family reasons, and spent 2 years researching the pathway of least resistance. I could not find reliable information to guide me. It was very stressful and time consuming, and I hope no one has to go through what I endured. This post summarizes my experience and recommendations. I did this myself and talked to...
