Immunotherapy in advanced anal cancer: is the beginning of a new era?
Anal cancer is a rare disease that accounts for less than 3% of all gastrointestinal tumors [1]. The incidence of its most common histologic variant, squamous cell carcinoma of the anus (SCCA) is 0.5- 2 cases/100.000 per year, although it has been steadily increasing in the latest years [1-5].
