Challenging diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis in children: case report
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the modern world due to increased migration rates. In 2018, 11% of all TB cases were diagnosed in children (World Health Organization., 2020). Extrapulmonary TB is a less common form, diagnosed in only 15% of all TB cases worldwide in 2018 (World Health Organization., 2020). It can affect the gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, and lymph nodes. Abdominal TB is a rare form of TB that affects children without comorbidities in particular, although exact numbers are unavailable because of lack of data and its rarity.
