The Editors ’ Choice

Both asthma and obesity disproportionately affect minority children and those in low-income families. While several studies have demonstrated associations between childhood obesity and asthma, few have investigated patterns of weight gain in early childhood and the development of asthma, particularly in high-risk populations. In this issue, Lovinsky-Desir et  al (p 1219) examined trajectories of several different indicators of adiposity in a longitudinal birth cohort of 609 predominately Black and Latinx children living in 4 US cities.
