Conclusion Emotional competence promotes fewer anxiety and depressive symptoms and less impaired HRQoL after diagnosis and after surgery, especially for patients without neoadjuvant treatments. Implications for Practice It is important for oncology nurses and other clinicians to consider the role of emotional processes in postsurgical HRQoL in relation to the type of received treatments and to reinforce the use of EC by cancer patients to improve their adjustment.
