Adolescent Suicide and Self Injury: Mentalizing Theory and Treatment

Adolescent suicide and self-harm have been increasing in the United States for well over the past decade.1 A multi-factorial and complex problem to solve, in recent years suicide and self-harm have been the targets of novel psychotherapeutic and pharmacologic treatments. The contributors and editors of Adolescent Suicide and Self Injury: Mentalizing Theory and Treatment aim to introduce what, to many readers, may be a new psychotherapeutic treatment modality —mentalization-based treatment (MBT).
