Prognostic impact of surgery after chemotherapy for type 4 gastric cancer

AbstractPurposeTo assess the clinical indications for, and prognostic impact of surgery after, chemotherapy for type 4 gastric cancer.MethodsThe subjects of this retrospective study were 67 patients who received chemotherapy for type 4 gastric cancer. The patients were grouped into those with progressive disease (PD group) and those without PD (non-PD group), according to the tumor response to chemotherapy.ResultsDistant metastases developed in 58 patients. With regard to tumor response, there were 16 patients in the PD group and 51 patients in the non-PD group. The prognosis of the PD group patients was significantly poorer than that of the non-PD group patients (p

This study aimed to evaluate the short-term impact of the pandemic on the surgical treatment of patients with gastric cancer (GC) in addition to their clinicopathological characteristics. We also verified adherence to the COVID-19 screening protocol adopted in the institution.METHODS: All patients with GC who underwent surgical treatment between 2015 and 2021 were retrospectively evaluated and divided into two groups according to the time period: control group (2015-2019) and COVID group (2020-2021). The institutional protocol recommends that patients referred for surgery undergo RT-PCR for severe acute respiratory syndrom...

ConclusionAC treatment is still necessary for ypN0. The duration reduction could be applied for the ypT0-2N0 stage patients but may not be suitable for higher ypT stages and beyond. A multicenter-based study is required.

We report a case of locally advanced (cT3 N2 M0) diffuse-type distal gastric adenocarcinoma treated with 'total neoadjuvant' FLOT (eight cycles), due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and laparoscopic radical subtotal gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy. The patient demonstrated a progressive radiological response on positron emission tomography with 2-deoxy-2-[fluorine-18]fluoro-d-glucose integrated with computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) and pCR in the resected specimen (ypT0 N0). As far as we are aware, this is the first case of pCR in locally advanced T3 N2 diffuse distal gastric cancer to be reported in the literature. It i...

ConclusionsThe regional cohort study of nivolumab monotherapy for gastric cancer patients revealed prognostic factors and a nomogram was developed that could predict the probability of survival.

Conclusion: CRS and HIPEC do not lead to an increased postoperative morbidity and mortality in AGC with PC. Albeit the poorer prognosis of patients with PC, survival of both groups was comparable.Oncol Res Treat

AbstractWe previously reported that claspin is a key regulator in the progression of gastric cancer and renal cell carcinoma. However, the clinicopathological significance of claspin in urothelial carcinoma (UC) has not been investigated. We analyzed the expression and distribution of claspin in UC cases by immunohistochemistry. In the non-neoplastic urothelium, the expression of claspin was either weak or absent, whereas UC tissues showed nuclear staining. The expression of claspin was detected in 58 (42%) of a total of 138 upper tract UC cases treated by radical nephroureterectomy without neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Claspi...

ConclusionHGCT and RFAG has remarkable survival benefits for GCLM patients when compared to TACEG, GCT and PCT. HGCT was found to exhibit superior therapeutic effects for GCLM patients for 1-year survival rate while RFAG was found to be a prospective therapeutic alternative for OS and 2-, 3-year survival rate.Systematic Review Registrationidentifier [10.37766/inplasy2020.12.0009].
