Hip Arthroplasty For Acute Hip Fracture In Patients With Neurological Disorders: A Report Of 9,702 Cases From The Swedish Arthroplasty Register
Hip fractures resulting from falls are a major concern for patients and healthcare providers and represent a major public health problem in terms of morbidity and mortality. Total deaths and disability adjusted life years as a result of hip fractures, have steadily increased since 1990 [1]. Due to longer life expectancy, the absolute number of hip fractures is expected to increase, even if better identification and treatment of osteoporosis may lower the incidence of hip fractures [2, 3]. Neurological disorders affecting motor and/or cognitive function are also becoming more common [4].
