Reply to to the editor, in response to: Assessment of oxygenation after balloon pulmonary angioplasty for patients with inoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

We appreciate the letter responding to our study. We are greatly encouraged as BPA operators by the suggestion that exertional oxygenation could be improved. The 6-min walk test (6MWT) is not intended to document exercise induced desaturation (EID) during exertion but is often used for this purpose [1]. Due to its simplicity, desaturation in 6MWT is proposed to evaluate EID in many patients with pulmonary hypertension or lung disease [2].
