Skin dose in radiation treatment of the left breast: Analysis in the context of prone versus supine treatment technique
Most women with early-stage breast cancer undergo combined treatment with radiation as part of their cancer management [1,2]. Treatment for breast cancer includes surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. Radiation therapy after breast-conserving surgery is associated with improvement in local control and is equivalent to mastectomy in terms of overall survival [1 –5]. This combined multimodality treatment has improved the outcome for early-stage breast cancer to its highest level.
