Inflammation in psychiatry especially focused on depression

AbstractThe etiology of depression remains unclear while, in many aspects, the pathology of depression has recently been reported to be closely associated with inflammation. The inflammatory processes often found in the acute stage of depression may have a profound influence of the prognosis of depression. These processes may account for underlying mechanism between depression and other disorders including metabolic disorders and dementia. The relationship between depression and inflammation may shed new light on the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for depression.
