In conclusion, the multidrug-resistant plasmids identified in S. enterica serovar Schwarzengrund and Newport isolated from poultry show a variety of antibiotic resistance and heavy metal tolerance genes, providing advantages for the bacteria to survive under extremely unfavorable conditions.
