A Case of Rapidly Progressive Neurological Decline

We describe a very intriguing case of progressive neurological decline where the patient initially presented to the primary care physician and was ultimately diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in a community hospital setting. We have highlighted the difficulties in diagnosing this uniformly fatal condition and its potential transmission from animals.
