12.2 the functional anatomy and neurochemical basis for dmdd

DMDD was incorporated by the DSM-5 to describe children with chronic mood irritability and behavioral outbursts in multiple settings. Studies have outlined brain differences in DMDD from both controls and other mood disorders; however, the potential involvement of neurotransmitters active at these sites remains unmapped. Stimulants and several antipsychotics have demonstrated efficacy, but first-line pharmacotherapy for treatment of DMDD has not been established. This poster seeks to consolidate findings on the neurobiology of DMDD through its phenotype, implicated brain areas, and potential neurotransmitter involvement, thereby suggesting future directions for studies.
