Estimating Occupational Radiation Exposure Using Cytogenetic Dosimetry in an Interventional Radiologist with Skin Cancer: A Case Report

Fluoroscopy and computed tomography are sources of occupational radiation exposure for interventional radiologists. The Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have launched a prospective cohort study on the effects of radiation on diagnostic and interventional medical workers involved in fluoroscopy-guided interventional procedures (FGIPs) (1). Cytogenetic studies have demonstrated that even low levels of chronic exposure increase the frequencies of chromosomal aberrations.
