Pace of Guidance Publishing Accelerates in Cardiovascular CT

This summer the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) released the Acute Coronary Syndromes in Patients Presenting without Persistent ST-Segment Elevation guideline and gave a class I recommendation for coronary CT angiography (CCTA) as an alternative to invasive angiography to exclude ACS in patients with a low-to-intermediate likelihood of CAD and normal or inconclusive cardiac troponin and/or ECG. Furthermore, CCTA received a class I indication to assess CAD in patients with no recurrence of chest pain, normal ECG findings, and normal levels of cardiac troponin, but still with a suspected ACS, before deciding on invasive angiography.
