Depression and anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric disorders. Major depression, a disorder of prolonged low mood or loss of interest or pleasure accompanied by characteristic changes in mood, thinking, behavior, and physiology, has a lifetime prevalence of around 17% .3 Anxiety disorders are even more common. This group of disorders includes panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social phobia, specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder.
