STRIDE study results on fall injury prevention in older adults: PCORI Media Availability

(Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute) As reported in the New England Journal of Medicine, the STRIDE Study found that a personalized approach to delivering proven falls risk reduction strategies to high-risk older adults in typical care settings resulted in an 8% to 10% reduction in serious fall injuries, but this effect was not statistically significant. Potential impediments, such as transportation availability and copayments, are among possible reasons the paper notes for the lesser effect size seen in the trial.
