Call for Applications: National Black Association for Speech-Language & Hearing 2014 Student Research Award Scholarship Competition The National Black Association for Speech-Language & Hearing (NBASLH) invites black students to submit a research paper to its 2014 scholarship competition. The winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship during NBASLH’s Annual Convention Charlotte, North Carolina, April 10-12, 2014. The recipient will also receive a $100 travel stipend to attend the convention and present the paper. Two scholarships will be awarded. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA -- Black student who is enrolled full-time in an ASHA accredited master’s program in speech-language pathology, audiology or speech-language-hearing sciences -- The student must be enrolled at the time of the award -- Member of NBASLH Please note that the competition is not available to undergraduate or doctoral students. CONTENT The research paper must address a topic of scientific or scholarly merit that deals with issues relevant to communication sciences and disorders. It is not mandatory to focus on issues related to multicultural issues or black populations. The paper may address any of the following: -- An empirical investigation that requires data gathering and analysis -- An issue paper that aims to redefine, evaluate or synthesize existing knowledge in ways that offer a new conceptual framework or approach for conducting research or engaging in...
