Innovative ways to battle Parkinson's disease

(Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf) A team from the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research has won HZDR's (Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf) Innovation Contest. The researchers developed a new substance that could improve image-based differential diagnostics of Parkinson's disease. Their molecule can dock onto receptors on nerve cells, where it can be detected via PET. The team is now ready for the next step on the way to market approval: clinical studies to test the value of their substance in everyday medical practice.
