IN THE United States, lung ultrasound is being used increasingly in intensive care units (ICUs) for both surgical and medical patients. Moreover, we are seeing a trend toward the use of bedside ultrasound to reduce reliance on diagnostic techniques that require radiation and/or intra-hospital transport of patients.
