Giles F. Filley Memorial Award for Excellence in Respiratory Physiology and Medicine Award: $12,000 Deadline: November 16 Contact: Executive Office The Giles F. Filley Memorial Award for Excellence in Respiratory Physiology and Medicine recognizes excellence in respiratory physiology and medicine. The award is given to an investigator who holds an academic rank no higher than assistant professor. The award is presented annually to an individual demonstrating outstanding promise based on his/her research program in respiratory physiology and medicine. Each recipient receives a $12,000 award designated for use in the research program. The award is announced during the APS Business Meeting held at the Experimental Biology meeting and at the Respiration Section Dinner.  The recipient receives complimentary registration to attend the meeting and a certificate recognizing his/her designation as a Giles F. Filley Awardee. The award does not include any indirect cost reimbursement. Applications are accepted from members of APS working within the U.S., reflecting Giles F. Filley's contributions to the national research community through his membership in APS. Because of Giles F. Filley's long association with the University of Colorado, Denver, preference for one award, on a competitive basis, is given to an individual affiliated with that institution. The award does not include any indirect cost reimbursement.
