A 5-year summary of real-life dietary egg consumption after completion of a 4-year egg powder oral immunotherapy (eOIT) protocol

Egg allergy is one of the most common food allergies in childhood, and although the majority of children with egg allergy are expected to outgrow their allergy, it can often last into the second decade of life.1 Oral immunotherapy (OIT) may represent a potential treatment option for these patients. The ability to introduce egg into the diet after OIT could provide significant benefits to safety, nutrition, and quality of life. However, data on the long-term effects of OIT and the subsequent introduction of dietary egg have been limited.
