Deep convolutional neural network VGG-16 model for differential diagnosing of papillary thyroid carcinomas in cytological images: a pilot study

Conclusion: In summary, after training with a large dataset, the DCNN VGG-16 model showed great potential in facilitating PTC diagnosis from cytological images. The contours, perimeter, area and mean of pixel intensity of PTC in fragmented images were more than the benign nodules.

CONCLUSIONS: The rare frameshift mutation in the TINF2 gene and the associated longer telomere length suggest that dysregulated telomeres could be a mechanism predisposing to PTC and melanoma. DNA coding variants in shelterin genes are rare. Further studies are required to evaluate the roles of variants in shelterin genes in thyroid cancer and melanoma. Our systematic review of the literature aimed to confirm the controversial association between preoperative TSH levels and the risk of DTC in patients who present with thyroid nodules. We extracted and assessed data from 10 key publications that previously investigated papillary thyroid carcinomas to predict the risk of malignancy.
