Skin microbiome in sensitive skin: the decrease of Staphylococcus epidermidis seems to be related to female lactic acid sting test sensitive skin
Human skin harbors a diverse group of microorganism that form complex communities and involve in a variety of complex molecular and cellular processes inside and outside the skin [1], and even influence gene expression in skin [2]. These microbiota interact directly with skin cells and play a central role in skin physiology and disease [3]. Many of evidence suggest a role for microorganisms in noninfectious skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis (AD), rosacea, psoriasis, and acne [4]. However, the origin of many skin diseases is multifactorial and in some cases, such as the sensitive skin syndrome (SS), the role of microorganisms remains to be clarified.
