Mortality and Unrecognized Readmissions Following Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair Conclusions from a National Analysis

Following the inception of the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program by CMS, 30-day readmission rate following vascular surgery is a high-priority quality measure. There is a paucity of robust, nationally-representative studies on readmissions following abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (AAAR) to hospitals different from the index admission facility. The purpose of this study is to utilize a comprehensive national database to determine risk factors for mortality and readmission to any hospital following AAAR.
