Socioemotional Status of Children With Uterine Exposure to the Zika Virus

During the 2015 to 2016 Zika virus (ZIKV) outbreak in Brazil, hospital surveillance for congenital Zika infection was conducted at the Jos é Maria de Magalhães Netto reference maternity hospital, located in Salvador, Brazil, between February and December 2016.1 Normocephalic infants with prenatal exposure to ZIKV were recruited if serologic testing or polymerase chain reaction assay for ZIKV was positive. All their mothers reported Z IKV infection symptoms during pregnancy and had anti-ZIKV IgG positivity at the time of delivery.
