IJERPH, Vol. 16, Pages 4436: Hepatitis C Virus Treatment Status and Barriers among Patients in Methadone Maintenance Treatment Clinics in Guangdong Province, China: A Cross-Sectional, Observational Study
This study highlights a limited uptake of HCV treatment among MMT patients, and a need to strengthen the popularity of DOT and DAAs and integrate them into Chinese MMT clinics.

Authors: Craxì L Abstract In recent years, the debate on ethical issues related to hepatitis C virus therapies has been focused on the problem of drug prices and access to therapies. Nonetheless, the goal of hepatitis C virus eradication set by the World Health Organization in 2016 is raising new ethical issues, since governments are faced with a new challenge: reaching through screening, diagnosis and treatment a large amount of subjects with undiagnosed hepatitis C infection. National governments, especially high-income countries with a Welfare State, are compelled to provide access to therapies, but also ...
Conclusions: The findings showed that, in an endemic rural area, DAA treatment had a high cure rate and improved physiological markers with few discomforts. These results can be used to reduce the barriers HCV patients face in adopting new medications.
Prior research had confirmed that biologic therapies can reactivate hepatitis B virus (HBVr) and hepatitis C in patients with psoriasis. Psoriasis patients with HBsAg-seropositive, HBeAg-seropositive, TNF- α inhibitor therapy, have a higher risk of HBVr and should be more closely monitored.
CONCLUSION: The implementation of a CPCP developed by hospital pharmacists for patients treated with DAA for HCV infection is an effective approach for preventing harmful medication errors and improving cost- effectiveness. PMID: 31811290 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We investigated circulating plasma microRNAs (miRNAs) as potential biomarkers of liver injury in patients mono-infected with HIV-1. We performed large...
Abstract Evaluation of the incidence and predictors of failure of direct-acting antiviral treatment for hepatitis C virus genotype 1b patients is important. Our retrospective cohort study assessed 172 Turkish patients who had received a full course of such treatment and could be checked for sustained virologic response. The overall treatment failure rate was 2.9% (5/172), all of whom relapsed. In three of these cases with sequencing data available, all had NS5A resistance-associated substitution. Multivariate analysis revealed that a 1 mg/dL increase in pre-treatment total bilirubin level was associated wit...
Conclusion: Crystal methamphetamine is used in the context of sexual activities by German MSM. Poorer mental health status than in the male general population was observed. MSM who used methamphetamine in this study seemed to be aware of potential health risks associated with their substance use and utilized harm reduction strategies and biomedical HIV prevention strategies like PrEP.
