112 Substantially increased risk of dermatitis herpetiformis in children and adolescents with atopic dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an eczematous inflammatory skin disease being the most common skin disease in children. AD is associated with an increased risk for several atopic, somatic and psychiatric comorbidities. Recent epidemiological data suggests that AD patients are at risk for autoimmune diseases, but the risk of celiac disease (CD) in children and adolescents with AD has shown conflicting results. Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a rare autoimmune bullous skin disease with worldwide highest prevalence in Finland.
