Antenatal Diagnosis of De Novo Balanced Structural Chromosome Aberrations in Latin America.

CONCLUSIONS Three new de novo breakpoints were identified, presumably related to genetic admixture characteristics in Latin America. Since some diseases associated with de novo balanced structural aberrations detected antenatally have a late onset, followup for at least two years is recommended for carriers of these aberrations. The information in this study is useful in genetic counseling for pregnant women in Latin America. PMID: 31242169 [PubMed - in process]

This study was embedded within the Swedish Environmental Longitudinal, Mother and child, Asthma and allergy (SELMA) study. Clinical reference ranges were determined by the 2.5th and 97.5th population-based percentile cut-offs. The associations of UI/Creat with thyrotropin (TSH), free T4 (FT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), total T4 (TT4), total triiodothyronine (TT3) were studied using multivariable linear regression in TPOAb negative women. The association of UI/Creat with TPOAb and TgAb positivity was analyzed using multivariable logistic regression. RESULTS: Urinary iodine and thyroid function were measured at a medi...

ConclusionThe impact of smoking exposure could be analyzed through transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions in neonates. The group effect of smoke exposure during pregnancy was evidenced by a reduction in transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions levels. This same effect was not observed for the analyses performed on distortion product otoacoustic emissions levels.ResumoIntroduçãoAs substâncias tóxicas presentes na fumaça do cigarro podem danificar as células ciliadas da cóclea. Este efeito foi investigado pela mensuração das emissões otoacústicas.Objet...

Master health checks* , superficially look like a perfect modality to practice the greatest medical concept ie “Prevention is better then cure” .Let us detect all human diseases early , prevent its progression, regress it or completely cure it . Absolute bliss is it not? Why then articles such as this one should ever get published, that too in one of the prestigious journal of medicine? *Master health check .( Also referred to as annual General health checks.) In this study, we aimed to identify and determine the efficacy of serum biomarkers for the prompt diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. For this purpose, the serum concentrations of progesterone, β human chorionic gonadotropin (β‑hCG) and cancer antigen‑125 (CA125) were detected by solid‑phase, competitive binding chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassays. Flow cytometry was used to analyze the percentage of CD3+ T cells in women with ectopic pregnancy. Pathological analysis of tubal and villus tissues was performed by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. After receiving an injection of methotrexate (MTX), patie...
