Fabrication of Red Blood Cell-Based Multimodal Theranostic Probes for Second Near-Infrared Window Fluorescence Imaging-Guided Tumor Surgery and Photodynamic Therapy

Conclusion: The proposed strategy will develop a new platform to increase surgical resection completeness and improve PDT efficiency, resulting in the successful and complete inhibition of tumor and metastasis, which could offer a promising approach for the clinical translation of malignant tumor treatment.

This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of cinacalcet in managing chronic dialysis patients with severe SHPT. METHODS: This retrospective study included 26 patients [age: 52 ± 12 years; 55% females; time on dialysis: 54 (4-236) months] on hemodialysis (N = 18) or peritoneal dialysis (N = 8) with severe SHPT (intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) level> 600 pg/mL) and hyperphosphatemia and/or persistent hypercalcemia treated with cinacalcet. The patients were followed for 12 months. Their serum calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and iPTH levels were measured at baseline and o...

CONCLUSION: In peritoneal dialysis patients, spironolactone did not attenuate the progression of CC. However, large-scale studies are needed to confirm this observation. Disorders of mineral metabolism and dyslipidemia are involved in the progression of CC. PMID: 31419271 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

MazoSummaryBackgroundRecently, changes in acute kidney injury (AKI) diagnostic criteria have been proposed (ICA-AKI criteria). However, in Brazil there is a paucity of data and analyses that evaluate AKI in patients with cirrhosis and determine the impact of the implemented AKI criteria changes. Therefore, this study sought to evaluate the incidence of AKI ...

Abstract Passive sampling by deploying organic polymers for 20-30 days in soils or sediments has been used for the assessment of bioavailability and mobility of hydrophobic organic contaminants. An important step in their interpretation is the estimation of the degree of equilibration, typically through the release of performance reference compounds (PRCs). This paper develops an improved modeling tool for predicting the behaviors of PRCs and contaminant compounds in devices in cylindrical geometry, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fibers or dialysis samplers of cylindrical cross-section. The model is solved by...

However, the presence of Mg2+ in natural water has been shown to drastically reduce open circuit voltage (OCV) and output power of RED. To alleviate this challenge, commercial cation exchange membranes (CEM...
