Long noncoding RNA PVT1-214 enhances gastric cancer progression by upregulating TrkC expression in competitively sponging way.

CONCLUSIONS: PVT1-214-induced miR-128 repression regulates TrkC to further the progression of GC, indicating that this process will provide a promising therapeutic target in GC. PMID: 31173288 [PubMed - in process]

Publication date: Available online 11 December 2019Source: The Lancet Global HealthAuthor(s): Adam Wagstaff, Sven NeelsenSummaryBackgroundThe goal of universal health coverage (UHC) requires that everyone receive needed health services, and that families who get needed services do not suffer undue financial hardship. Tracking progress towards UHC requires measurement of both these dimensions, and a way of trading them off against one another.MethodsWe measured service coverage by a weighted geometric average of four prevention indicators (antenatal care, full immunisation, and screening for breast and cervical cancers) and...

os AC Abstract PURPOSE: To examine the effects of Arrabidaa chica (Bignoniacea) extract, a native plant of the Amazon known as crajiru, on a 7,12-dimethyl-1,2-benzanthracene (DMBA)-induced breast cancer model in Wistar rats. METHODS: We compared the response of breast cancer to the oral administration of A. chica extract (ACE) for 16 weeks, associated or not with vincristine. Groups: normal control; DMBA (50mg/kg v.o,) without treatment; DMBA+ACE (300 mg/kg); DMBA+vincristine. 500μg/kg injected i.p; DMBA+ACE+Vincristine 250μg/kg i.p. Imaging by microPET and fluorescence, biochemistry, oxidative stress, ...

Conclusion: Our results showed that PVT1 can inhibit the apoptosis and enhance the 5-Fu resistance of gastric cancer through the activation of Bcl2. PVT1 has the potential to serve as an indicator to predict 5-Fu treatment resistance. PMID: 31205469 [PubMed]

This study investigated the function and mechanism of PVT1 knockdown in the proliferation and malignant transformation of human gliomas. We firstly examined the expression levels of PVT1 and miR-424 in human glioma tissues and cell lines. We also used gene manipulation techniques to explore the effects of PVT1 knockdown on cell viability, migration, invasion, and miR-424. We found that PVT1 knockdown effectively inhibited cell viability, migration and invasion of human glioma cells and increased miR-424 expression. Based on the negative correlation between PVT1 and miR-424, we then confirmed the direct interaction between ...

Conclusions: PVT1 expression positively related to tumor size, TNM stages, lymph node metastasis and distant metastases, and served as a prognostic biomarker in different types of cancers. PMID: 29348896 [PubMed]

Abstract The digestive system cancers are leading cause of cancer‐related death worldwide, and have high risks of morbidity and mortality. More and more long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been studied to be abnormally expressed in cancers and play a key role in the process of digestive system tumour progression. Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) seems fairly novel. Since 1984, PVT1 was identified to be an activator of MYC in mice. Its role in human tumour initiation and progression has long been a subject of interest. The expression of PVT1 is elevated in digestive system cancers and correlates with poor pro...

CONCLUSIONS: These results suggested that PVT1 acted as a key role in GC pathogenesis and may serve as a potential therapeutic target for GC. PMID: 28122299 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
