Promotion of Adolescent Mental Health in Hong Kong —The Role of a Comprehensive Child Health Policy
The mental well-being of adolescents in Hong Kong is an increasing concern in recent years as reflected by the upsurge of student suicide in 2016. In the 20 years review of the health situation of children and adolescents conducted by the Hong Kong Paediatric Foundation (HKPF) in 2017, we have identified three major health issues contributing to the mental health challenges in Hong Kong: (1) increasing mental health problems for children and adolescen ts; (2) periodic surge of youth suicide; and (3) enormous stress for parents, children, and youth.
