Basic Science Research in the Field of Hand Surgery

Basic Science Research in the Field of Hand Surgery Funded by the American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand and OREF 2013 Application Deadline is April 1. The American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand awards grant funding for research projects related to the field of hand surgery to encourage young investigators. It is anticipated that the funding will enable these investigators to initiate projects that will lead to additional funding. There are no specific project guidelines within the framework of hand surgery. In the past, funding has been provided for a range of subjects.  Seeds grants of up to $20,000 are available annually. All Research Grant proposals involving animals are required to have proof of submission to the Animal Research Review Board when the grant application is submitted.  Documentation of IRB submission must be provided with the grant application.  The Basic Science Research Committee will not review any study without proof that the IRB review process has been initiated.
