Postoperative opioid utilization using Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) guidelines for benign gynecologic procedures

ConclusionPatients require significantly less opioids after benign gynecologic surgery than they are being prescribed. Physician adherence to the ERAS postoperative opioid recommendations is suboptimal and contributes significantly to the quantity of unutilized opioids following surgery for benign gynecological indications. Almost two-thirds of all opioids prescribed are not utilized by one week following benign gynecologic surgery.
