The association between physical activity and risk of liver cancer is debated. Using data from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort (known as EPIC) which is composed of 467,336 men and women, Baumeister et al. now show that physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of developing liver cancers over the next decade. The risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was significantly lower for active vs. inactive individuals, and for individuals that performed>2hours/week of vigorous activity vs.
