Fulvestrant-anastrozole Combo Improves Survival in Metastatic Breast Cancer Fulvestrant-anastrozole Combo Improves Survival in Metastatic Breast Cancer

More than six years after a study showed that women with hormone-receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer benefit from a combination of anastrozole and fulvestrant, extended results show the trend has become even more pronounced, but mostly for women not previously exposed to tamoxifen.Reuters Health Information

The objective of the paper is to study cases of premalignant and malignant tumors, with a view to their imagistic identification confirmed in terms of histopathology, to highlight the accuracy of the imagistic examination as an important factor in the diagnosis and adaptation of an appropriate therapeutic attitude. The study was performed on a batch of 768 patients admitted to the Department of Surgery III, "Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu" Institute of Oncology, Bucharest, Romania. The classical examined hypothesis is local examination, mammography, ultrasound, with its variations, and histopathological (HP) co...

Connection between SOX7 Expression and Breast Cancer Prognosis. Med Sci Monit. 2020 Apr 02;26:e921510 Authors: Qin CX, Yang XQ, Zhan ZY Abstract BACKGROUND SOX7 exerts a repressing effect against tumors and imposes vital influences on malignancies. Our research discussed the importance of SOX7 in breast cancer prognoses. MATERIAL AND METHODS SOX7 mRNA expression in breast cancer tissues samples and matched adjacent normal controls of breast cancer patients was measured by quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The relationship of SOX7 with clinicopathological characteristics w...

In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the risk factors for developing anaphylaxis in 182 female breast cancer patients treated with docetaxel. We found that 6.6% of all patients (n = 12) experienced anaphylaxis. Multivariate analyses indicated that concentration of docetaxel higher than 0.275 mg/m2/mL, docetaxel dose rate higher than 1.15 mg/m2/min, and white blood cell count less than 4290 cells/mL are risk factors for developing docetaxel-related anaphylaxis. In particular, concentrations of docetaxel or doses per administration time were associated with a high odds ratio (11.88 or 11.60)...

JD, Whitfield KE, Esnaola NF, Cunningham JE Abstract Higher BMI, lower rates of physical activity (PA), and hormone receptor-negative breast cancer (BC) subtype are associated with poorer BC treatment outcomes. We evaluated the prevalence of high BMI, low PA level, and BC subtype among survivors with white/European American (EA) and African American (AA) ancestry, as well as a distinct subset of AAs with Sea Island/Gullah ancestry (SI). We used the South Carolina Central Cancer Registry to identify 137 (42 EAs, 66 AAs, and 29 SIs) women diagnosed with BC and who were within 6-21 months of diagnosis. We employed l...

Pubertal mammary development as a "susceptibility window" for breast cancer disparity. Adv Cancer Res. 2020;146:57-82 Authors: Krisanits B, Randise JF, Burton CE, Findlay VJ, Turner DP Abstract Factors such as socioeconomic status, age at menarche and childbearing patterns are components that have been shown to influence mammary gland development and establish breast cancer disparity. Pubertal mammary gland development is selected as the focus of this review, as it is identified as a "window of susceptibility" for breast cancer risk and disparity. Here we recognize non-Hispanic Whi...

Abstract Improvements in breast cancer (BC) mortality rates have not been seen in the older adult community, and the fact that older adults are more likely to die from their cancer than younger women establishes a major health disparity. Studies have identified that despite typically presenting with more favorable histology, older women present with more advanced disease, which may be related in part to delayed diagnosis. This is supported by examination of screening practices in older adults. Older women have a worse prognosis than younger women in both early stage disease, and more advanced and metastatic diseas...

OBJECTIVES: Aromatase inhibitors are the first-choice drugs for the treatment of hormone sensitive breast cancer. However, in addition to the scarcity of studies, there are controversies about their effects on vaginal epithelial cell proliferation in rats, especially those in persistent estrus. METHODS: To investigate vaginal epithelial cell proliferation by Ki-67 antigen expression, persistent estrus was induced in 42 randomly selected rats. These rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: group I (control, n=21), which received 0.1 mL of propylene glycol (vehicle) daily, and group II (experimental, n=21), which received 0...
