Analysis of gene co ‑expression network reveals prognostic significance of CNFN in patients with head and neck cancer.

In conclusion, CNFN, identified via the WGCNA algorithm, may contribute to the prediction of lymph node metastases and prognosis, probably by regulating the pathways associated with P53, and the early and late estrogen response. PMID: 30816522 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: More than 50% of low-risk PTMC are on AS in Japan. However, the indication and recommendation for AS vary significantly between institutions. To improve the implementation of this management modality, physicians and patients should be further educated, and the socio-medical environment should be improved. ConclusionsEating problems after treatment have substantial effects on the everyday life of HNC survivors. A multidisciplinary residential rehabilitation program may be beneficial to meet their rehabilitation needs.Implications for Cancer SurvivorsThe results are useful for future planning of rehabilitation services and clinical studies that may contribute to improving current clinical practice and benefit HNC survivors.

AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo review the latest information about the interactions between cancer and cerebrovascular disease.Recent FindingsAdditional data support the finding that both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke are important complications of cancer or its treatment. Reperfusion therapy is being given successfully to patients with stroke complicating cancer.SummaryHemorrhagic stroke may occur with metastatic disease to the brain, coagulopathies from cancer, in particular leukemia, or as complications of chemotherapy. Ischemic stroke also may be a complication of metastatic disease with local invasion of vessels, a pro...

Conclusion Improvement of QOL of patients with head and neck cancer is a long process, which is associated with the clinical and demographic characteristics of patients. Implications for Practice Focusing nursing practice on shoulder and neck function rehabilitation, incision care, and pain management could positively affect QOL among patients with head and neck cancer treated by surgery.

CONCLUSION: There are minor variations in CNA profiles within different areas of HNSCC tumors and many between independent tumors, suggesting that CNA profiles could be exploited as marker of genetic relationship. Using CNA profiling and mutational analysis of cancer driver genes, relapses after CRT appear to be partially genetically related to the corresponding PTs, but seem often genetically unrelated. This remarkable observation warrants further studies and will impact therapeutic innovations and prognostic modeling when using index tumor characteristics. Conclusion Treatment of CIED-patients with protons and carbon ions applied with active raster scanning technique was safe without any incidents in our single center experience. Monitoring after almost every fraction provided systematic and extensive data. Further investigations are necessary in order to form reliable guidelines, which should consider different modes of beam application, as active scanning supposedly provides a greater level of safety from malfunctions for patients with CIED undergoing particle irradiation.

ConclusionProgrammed cell death ‐1 inhibitors prolonged OS in comparison with standard‐of‐care therapy in recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer patients. Human papillomavirus positive patients were superior to HPV negative patients in the treatment of PD‐1/PD‐L1 inhibitors. More phase III randomized controlled tri als are warranted to confirm our findings.
