Association of age at menopause and type 2 diabetes: A systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of cohort studies
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, with high rates of morbidity and mortality throughout the world [1]. Both the prevalence and incidence of T2DM have increased considerably in recent decades. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the number of people with diabetes is predicted to increase from 415 million in 2015 to 642 million in 2040 in the world [2]. From 2007 to 2017, the all-age disability adjusted life-years (DALYs) rates for T2DM increased by 34.2% and 33.9% for women and men [3].
