Bilateral facial nerve palsy in a child: When the smile returns

We describe the case of an 8-year-old girl with bilateral facial paralysis because of Epstein–Barr virus infection with late diagnosis and therapy. We discuss the differential diagnosis hypothesis, focusing on the different outcome and recovery times in relation to the timing of treatment.
