The objective of this report was to summarize current knowledge of CC, squamous intraepithelial lesions, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in non-HIV immunocompromised women to determine best practices for CC surveillance in this population and provide recommendations for screening. We evaluated those with solid organ transplant, hematopoietic stem cell transplant, and a number of autoimmune diseases. A panel of health care professionals involved in CC research and care was assembled to review and discuss existing literature on the subject and come to conclusions about screening based on available evidence and expe...

Weiner, Michael V. Rocco, Michael J. Choi, Matthew R. Weir, Tara I. Chang, Rajiv Agarwal, Srinivasan BeddhuHypertension is a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality and reduction of elevated blood pressure (BP) remains an important intervention for slowing kidney disease progression. Over the past decade, the most appropriate BP target for initiation and titration of BP-lowering medications has been an area of intense ...

ConclusionsCurrent psychosocial assessment practices in LVAD programs vary widely and often yield non-standardized, non-comparable data that may lead to variations in care and limit generation of an evidence base for decision making regarding psychosocial eligibility for LVAD implantation.

ConclusionCardiac resynchronization therapy seems to be less efficient in LMNA patients compared to usual implanted patients with other type of advanced cardiomyopathy. An impaired right ventricular stroke function seems to be the only predictive factor leading to poor response to CRT.

Authors: Bejjanki H, Koratala A Abstract Rothia mucilaginosa, previously known as Stomatococcus mucilaginosus, is a Gram-positive coccus that is a part of the oropharyngeal and upper respiratory tract microbiota. Although this organism is believed to be of low virulence, it is increasingly being recognized as an opportunistic pathogen mostly affecting immunocompromised hosts. In this article, we describe a case of Rothia mucilaginosa bacteremia in an immunocompromised heart transplant recipient with end-stage renal disease, who was getting maintenance hemodialysis via a tunneled catheter. To the best of our knowled...

: Preoperatively-elevated pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) is a contraindication to heart transplantation (HTX). Transpulmonary pressure gradient (TPG) is one of the main variables used in PVR determination (i.e., PVR  = TPG/cardiac output). Unlike PVR, which is subject to the shortcoming of cardiac output estimation, TPG is directly measured. We aimed to evaluate the implication of TPG obtained before left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation on post-HTX survival.
