Association between physical activity and risk of hepatobiliary cancers: A multinational cohort study

Liver cancer was the fourth leading cause of cancer death in 2015.1 Liver cancer is responsible for around 47,000 deaths per year in the European Union.2 Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer derived from hepatocytes and it accounts for 85 –90% of all primary liver cancers worldwide. It is the fifth most common cancer in men and the seventh most common cancer in women.1 The distribution of HCC varies greatly according to geographic location and it is more common in low- and middle-income countries than in developed countries.
