Zakażenie prątkiem niegruźliczym u 17-letniej dziewczynki z anoreksją

Publication date: Available online 16 October 2014 Source:Pediatria Polska Author(s): Katarzyna Wielgos , Danuta Sidor The authors present a case of 17-years-old girl with anorexia and severe cachexia. The patient experienced moderately expressed and but not characteristic symptoms such as slightly productive cough, chest pain, and intermittent fever. The chest radiograph revealed tuberculosis-like changes, likewise the positive IGRA (Interferon-Gamma Release Assay) test; however, the microbiological tests showed nontuberculous mycobacteria as a cause of presented symptoms. This case indicates that opportunistic and rare diseases as nontuberculous mycobacterial infections should always be considered in children with certain risk factors.
