Patient safety by analyzing the information not provided in the requisition orders of cervical cytology test

Conclusion: There is a need for professional training about filling in the information on requis itions, because they collaborate with the increase of the sensitivity and specificity of the cytology test, thus allowing more reliable results that aid in patient safety.RESUMO Introdu ção: O câncer do colo do útero é um sério problema de saúde pública devido a sua alta incidência e mortalidade em países subdesenvolvidos, sendo, desta forma, uma prioridade na saúde mundial.

The cytotoxicity of free ligands and complexes 1-3 were evaluated against HT-29 (colorectal adenocarcinoma), MCF-7 (breast), and HeLa (human squamous cervical adenocarcinoma) cancer cell lines along with MRC-5 non-...

Background: Despite recommendations for preventive health services and routine HIV care for HIV-positive women, limited data are available regarding uptake of recommendations. Methods: We used data from the 2013–2014 data cycles of the Medical Monitoring Project. We calculated weighted estimates and used multivariable logistic regression with adjusted prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals to examine associations between preventive health screenings, routine HIV care [based on viral load (VL) and CD4 measures as proxies], and sociodemographic factors. Results: Of 2766 women, 47.7% were 50 years and ol...

AbstractObjectivesTo investigate the prognostic value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in predicting clinical outcome in patients with cervical cancer after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).MethodsWe enrolled 124 cervical cancer patients who received definitive CCRT and underwent 3  T-MRI before and 1 month after initiating treatment. The mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value was measured on the tumor and the changes in ADC percentage (ΔADCmean) between the two time points were calculated. The Cox proportion hazard model was used to evaluate the associations between imaging or clinical varia...

Authors: Gurumurthy M, Leeson S, Tidy J, Cruickshank ME Abstract Vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN) is less common than intraepithelial neoplasia at other non-cervical sites and can be challenging to manage. This survey describes current clinical practice by colposcopists in the UK. An online questionnaire was emailed to all the lead colposcopists in U.K. A total of 86 (43%) responses were obtained. The median number of cases of VaIN seen in a year was five (range 0-100. Most clinics (95%) managed low grade VaIN conservatively. Local vaginal mucosal excision was the most common surgical procedure. Half of res...

In this study, patients with early-stage cervical cancer who underwent radical and modified radical hysterectomy without retroperitoneal lymph node involvement were evaluated, and recurrence development and factors affecting disease-free survival were investigated. A nomogram consisting of factors influencing disease-free survival was constructed. The total score was determined according to the status of all risk factors. This allowed clear definition of the risk for each patient. A nomogram predicting recurrence in patients with stages IA2-IIA cervical cancer with radical hysterectomy without lymph node involvement has no...

The mean ABM ‐V40 and ABM‐V30 were decreased by 9.84% and 7.8%, respectively, compared with mean TBM‐V40 and TBM‐V30. ABM volume (AUC = 0.928), ABM‐V30 (AUC = 0.875), and ABM‐V40 (AUC = 0.858) can predict the occurrence of grade 3 or higher (grade 3+) hematologic toxicity. ABM volume (

A mucoadhesive nanogel is introduced to prolong the residence time and dramatically improve the drug efficiency in local cervical cancer therapy. This nanogel not only displays mucoadhesive properties that adhere strongly to mucins but also contributes to the penetration of drugs in epithelial cell monolayers. The new design with multivalent interactions exerts excellent anticancer activity in cervical cancer. AbstractCervical cancer treatment is subject to limited drug access to locally diseased targets and generally resistant to chemotherapy, thus it is essential to develop a local drug delivery system to overcome these ...
