Hopeless – Amanda’s Story

Sourced from The Hysterectomy Association: Hysterectomy Association - Hysterectomy Association - hysterectomy, menopause and hormone replacement therapy (hrt) information and support for women. Hi I was just wanting to share my story. I am 32 years old and have suffered with heavy periods since I was 16. At the time everyone dismissed this and I was told it was normal but after I had my two children the pain and bleeding worsened. I have spent the last 5 years of my life been passed from one consultant to another who all told me I was too young for a hysterectomy. Finally last year a new consultant agreed it was my only option now. So please everyone fighting the same boat don’t give up. Finally after injections to induce the menopause for nearly a year I was put on the waiting list. To be told it would be August, but then September; then October a date finally arrived 12th November. I know this is major surgery but I was so excited to finally be free of this. Morning of operation on the bus ten minutes to go till booking in time I received a phone call after nearly two hours on a bus to say they were sorry but they were cancelling as there was no bed! Disappointed doesn’t even come close to how I was feeling; I was so close. Well I’m back on the list for surgery on 10th December, fingers crossed I get there and get a bed this time. *************************************************************** Now available on our online store and all other online book sto...
